The Knights

Each tournament will feature four knights. One to represent North, South, East and West. We will post information about our knights on this page. The Knights will be resplendent in their respective colours Blue - North; Red - South, Gold - East; Green - West.

At each venue you will be able to buy T-shirts and pennants to show your support for your chosen knight. Alternatively you could come dressed in the colour of your chosen knight.

The knights might vary from tourney to tourney, the Knights for Old Sarum are...

For the North (Blue)

Sir Edward  (Tim Eagling  Me)

Sir Edward, is a bear of a man, broad shouldered, heavily set and bad tempered. He has fought in countless battles and skirmishes. He carried the banner of his Lord the Duke of Suffolk into battle and now fights for fortune and glory in the tourney arena. Some say his heart is as black as his armour. Those who have fought alongside him say that it is unwise to rouse the bear, he likes to win by fair means or foul.

Tim Eagling, 41, came to re-enactment fairly late when looking for something that his whole family could be involved in. His children will be in the audience cheering for Sir Daddy. Although his favourite line is “You always need one more sword than you own”, he prefers to fight with a pollax in hand to hand combat.

When with the MSS Tim usually wears the Yellow and Blue of the Duke of Suffolk’s men.

For the South   (Red)

Sir Henry  (Colin Perry)
Sir Henry is the wealthiest of the knights in this tournament. He wears fine clothes and fine armour. He is impeccably behaved and dislikes those who would dishonour him or others whom deserve respect. He is fast to defend those who cannot defend themselves. But do not under estimate him, just because he looks like a dandy doe not mean he fights like one. Ferocious and brave Sir Henry is not to be taken lightly

Colin Perry, 49, is a passionate Living Historian. He loves to fight and to cook and most of all to shoot his longbow. His small household The Wingfields, portray the household of Sir Henry Wingfield a lesser nobleman from Suffolk. They are already earning a reputation for high quality Living History and and bravery on the field.

When with the MSS Colin wears the Red coat of the Wingfields

For the East   (Gold)
Sir Robert (Robbie Chave)

Sir Robert is the youngest of our knights. He is the third son of the Earl of Uckfield, a miserly man who has no need for a third son. Sir Robert has travelled abroad to the Holy Roman Empire to study martial skills and has only recently returned to England. He has already made a name for himself fighting in tourneys and is a firm favourite with the maidens who often give him their favours.
Quick witted and quick bladed Sir Robert is a dangerous opponent.

Rob Chave, 24, is an up and coming Man At Arms in the MSS. He visited a medieval re-enactment when he was child and set his heart on becoming a knight. Rob has gained experience in various disciplines, but prefers hand and a half sword.

When with the MSS Rob usually wears the green ragged staff of the Whittingham household.

For the West   (Green)

Sir Adrian (Adrian Pinn)

Sir Adrian is a veteran warrior. He stands at more than six feet and makes an imposing figure on the field of battle or in the tourney ring.
He has kept the peace in Wales. Acted as personal bodyguard to his lord Earl Courtney of Devonshire and led his own men in battle. These days he represents his Lord in tournaments. He prefers a direct route into combat. He is always prepared to flex his muscles and vocal chords. He is a likeable fellow, a lover of good food and beer, as attested to by his widening armour.

Adrian Pinn (Clanky to his friends), 43, is a combat master. He is a long time reenactor and spends his time when not fighting training others in early and late medieval groups in a wide variety of Western Martial disciplines.
Adrian is a Teuton, but this order of knights is greatly reduced these days so when with the MSS he is in the household of de Courtenay, the Devons

At Old Sarum The Gold Knight was...

Sir Viktor the Beast of the East (Viktor Vasso)

Sir Viktor, The Beast From The East. Is a scarred warrior from the far flung corners of Europe. He has carved his way from the Carpathian Mountains, through the Black Forest all the way to England. He sells his sword to the highest bidder and only a few can afford his services.
Sir Viktor is a man of few words. He is calm, quiet and sometimes aloof. This all just adds to his mystery.

Viktor Vasso, 32, hails from Slovakia. He found re-enactment as a good way to meet people in England. He enjoys travelling across England and Europe to take part in battles and displays. He favours the Longsword in combat, but is adept with all weapons. He is genuinely known as The Beast From The East by his friends, but you couldn’t meet a nicer guy.

When with the MSS Viktor usually wears the White and red of the Hartley Household
